After all, this Blaster made everyone reconsideration of their Windows box security. First I said, use the built in ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) in Windows 2003/XP. Enable it, then go to
Gibson Research Corporation. Use their
ShieldsUp! to check your Windows security. If they say it is OK, then you can be sure that at least common Windows holes such as port 135 won't be trouble maker any more. An advice, always use what is built in your software, if it wasn't enough then go for another one. ICF does it work well. You can forward ports, block specified ports, unblock the ones you need. Don't forget, in case you don't have a router all these work, if you have a router, then try configuring it, try your settings with ShieldsUp! see what it says. Trust GRC, they are the best in their field.
