German Football Federation (DFB) spokesman Harald Stenger confirmed the fixture would take place after initial doubts about when the match should be played. Iran and Germany have met on the football pitch just once before with Germany triumphing 2-0 back in June 1998. Jurgen Klinsmann and Oliver Bierhoff scored the goals."
