Using the Windows Mobile 5.0 Emulators in Visual Studio 2005

If you have ever developed mobile applications, you know the importance of using emulators. Emulators allow you to test your application on different types of target platforms without needing to buy all these devices (which is not practical, as it is almost impossible to test your application on all makes and models). And so the emulator plays a very important part in the development cycle: How realistically can it emulate a real device? Are you able to drag and drop files onto the emulator? Can you install applications onto the emulator? Read More . . .

Fedora Core 5 Test 2 Released

I actually installed Fedora Core 4 some weeks ago for a trial system and got tired of it even installing it. Redhat was on the wrong way in my opinion since Redhat 7.0, Redhat 5.1 and 6.0 were just rocking but v7.0 was where I switched to Slackware. Nowadays, if you ask me for the recommendation I will go for Debian.
P.S: Fedora Core 5 Test 2 Released.

Windows Has Fewer Security Holes Than Linux

The conventional wisdom holds that Windows is a security sieve, while Linux is locked down tight. Then why does Linux have three times the number of security holes as Windows? A 2005 year-end vulnerability summary by US-CERT (United Stated Computer Emergency Readiness Team) concludes that Linux/Unix accounted for an eye-opening 2,328 vulnerabilities, about 45 percent of the total of 5,198 vulnerabilities for the year. Windows, by way of contrast, had only 812 vulnerabilities during the year, 16 percent of the total. Read More . . .

Microsoft Challenges Linux's Legacy Claims!

Microsoft Corp.'s Linux and open-source lab on the Redmond campus has been running some interesting tests of late, one of which was looking at how well the latest Windows client software runs on legacy hardware in comparison to its Linux competitors. While this may seem strange, given Microsoft's desire to upgrade every possible customer to the latest version of Windows, often resulting in a forced hardware upgrade as well, that strategy is far more effective in the developed world than among developing nations, Bill Hilf, who is director of Platform Technology Strategy at Microsoft and runs the lab, told eWEEK in a recent interview.
